The Academy of Maharashtra Research, Upliftment and Training (AMRUT) is an autonomous institution established by the Government of Maharashtra through a Government Resolution dated August 22, 2019, to facilitate the development of students, youth, and other candidates from economically weaker sections of the open category in the state. AMRUT is registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 and the Public Trust Act 1950. The headquarters of the institution is located in Pune.

AMRUT's schemes are implemented with the approval of the Board of Governance. The Chairman of the Governing Board is the Hon. Principal Secretary, Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai. Various schemes are implemented within the scope of authorities granted to the Hon. Managing Director of AMRUT and approved by the Governing Board.
